The Very Best Salt Lake City Antique and Secondhand Stores

You can furnish your home with all brand-new items, but most interior designers will tell you that they mix old and new items. That’s what gives a house character, depth, and charm. Plus, antiques and secondhand items tend to be great conversation starters.

Salt Lake City has some wonderful antique and secondhand shops, so I’ve rounded up a list of some of the best. Ready to start your own treasure hunt?

1. The American Rust Company

The American Rust Company, a Sugarhouse antique/junk/collectible shop, is truly one-of-a-kind. Owner Matt Binyon prides himself on making sure that everything for sale in the shop is carefully curated and fits his vision of what a secondhand store should be (clean, well-organized, and chock full of fantastic finds—there’s no junk here).

There’s a huge variety here, especially if you’re looking for different kinds of auto-related items and street signs. The store also has farm equipment, housewares, and some vintage clothing. The prices are very reasonable, and everyone loves the friendly staff.

2. Euro Treasures Antiques

Euro Treasures Antiques is an establishment in Salt Lake City—as proof of that, they were even featured on Antiques Roadshow. They specialize in English antiques, but they sell much, much more than that. In fact, Euro Treasures Antiques was once the biggest antiques store in the country.

Euro Treasures has an astounding amount of furniture in many periods and styles. Scott, the owner, knows so much about the history of antiques and where they come from. Here is a huge number of antiques periods and styles. Enjoy the hunt at this 40,000-square-foot shop.

3. Abode Vintage

This Millcreek gem, Abode Vintage, looks tiny and unassuming from the road, but I promise it’s worth your time. It’s packed with treasures and collectibles. And when I say packed, I do mean packed! There is everything you could ever want in here—books, toys, furniture, collectibles, clothing, and much more.

There are so many unexpected things to look at (and honestly, probably end up buying). Plus, the storeowner is a gem.

4. Copperhive Vintage

If you’re looking for vintage shop with that retro hipster vibe, you’ve found it with Copperhive Vintage in Sugar House. The owner has such fantastic taste that you will probably want to take home the entire store.

You’ll find clothes, luggage, furniture, signs, jewelry, and housewares in a well-organized and incredibly clean space. You’ll also frequently find Copperhive Vintage at local craft fairs around Salt Lake City (or check out the store’s Etsy shop).

5. Haight and Ashbury Home

Haight and Ashbury Home hosts vendors who have booths selling home décor. The booths are beautifully decorated and staged to show everything off so you can see how it might fit into your home.

There are always new items here, so if you don’t find what you need for your home the first time, don’t give up! You might find it on your next trip to this lovely spot in Sugar House.

6. Needful Things

Needful Things is more of a thrift store than an antique store, but it’s definitely a place you should check out if you’re looking for unique items for your home. You’ll find the best things if you stay and really hunt through all of the goods. They have more than you expect when you first walk in! You could easily spend the entire afternoon here, no problem.

Expect to find a variety of oddities, collectibles, and secondhand items, including furniture, home items, knick-knacks, jewelry, and more. This is truly a treasure hunt in every sense.

Open Mon–Sat: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

7. The Other Side Thrift Boutique

You know what’s brilliant about The Other Side Thrift Boutique? They have an inventory system! Cue the celebratory music. This means that you can ask a worker If they have something and they can look to see if they do or not! Everything is organized in their system by category so it’s easy to see items they have but that aren’t on the floor. Brilliant, I say.

This wonderful non-profit uses all its proceeds (along with a sister moving company, The Other Side Movers) to support men and women trying to get out of addiction. Check out this news report to learn more about the good being done at this store.

Info:

4290 S State Street, Murray

Open Mon–Sat 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

8. Garner Antiques

Garner Antiques was opened in 1949 by Doug Garner, an antiques enthusiast who traveled around the word finding the highest-quality antiques. The manager still travels the U.S. and adds new inventory to the shop weekly.

You’ll find beautiful American Arts and Crafts furniture in excellent condition at Garner Antiques. It’s also a great spot if you’re looking for American oak or walnut furniture.

Info:

37 and 67 n Main Street, Bountiful

Open Wed–Sat: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

9. The Old Flamingo

The Old Flamingo is a “cooperative” of vendors that rent space together to sell antiques and other handmade items. The vendors bring their own items and take turns working at the store each week. You’ll love this collection of eclectic finds, especially all of the eclectic furniture!

There are lots of different styles and high turnover. The cooperative is really good at frequently restaging the store to show merchandise differently. In short, everything is beautifully curated by people who have taste and want to show everything off at its best.
